Five days PODD Advanced Workshop

October 16-20 we invite you to a five days advanced PODD workshop held by Gayle Porter from Australia. Read more below.

This advanced PODD workshop is for people who have completed at least a two day Official Introductory PODD workshop and are now seeking to further develop their knowledge and skills.

The workshop aims to build on current knowledge, and Gayle Porter provides participants with an in-depth knowledge of the theory and principles behind PODD and the structure of PODD communication.

Focus is on building fluid use of PODD, refining observations and assessments, planning implementation and strategies for training communication partners.

Participation in an advanced PODD workshop is a prerequisite for starting the process for becoming certified PODD instructor.

Workshop days

Monday October 16 - Friday October 20, 9 am - 5 pm.
A certified PODD instructor from Sweden will act as local 'assistant teacher'.

Price

13 000 Swedish krona for professionals (not included VAT). Coffee is included. 
10 000 Swedish krona for parents (not included VAT). Coffee is included.

Volunteer a case study

This is your opportunity to influence the content of the training and present issues and questions related to implementing PODD. Meet with your team and identify a student that will provide participants with opportunities to observe current communication and plan further assessment intervention. Difficulties are welcome!

Case study will need to include:
•Short video of child interacting with a familiar partner
•Background information
•Previous communication learning opportunities / AAC systems

Gayle Porter is a Speech Pathologist with more than 35 years hands-on
experience working with people who have complex communication needs.
Gayle works at CPEC (Cerebral Palsy Education Centre) in Melbourne,
Australia. She also has a private practice, working with children and teenagers with complex communication needs in mainstream schools.

Gayle Porter has developed the Pragmatic Organization Dynamic Display (PODD) communication books and page sets for speech generating devices.
She has authored articles, publications, and chapters on AAC and cerebral palsy. Gayle is a highly sought-after international presenter.
