About us
Region Västra Götaland is an active member of different regional organisations and networks in Europe, as well as the sub-regional level around the North Sea, the Baltic Sea and in south-western Scandinavia. Our organisation is also involved in several collaboration agreements and projects.
The president of the regional assembly, Magnus Berntsson, holds the presidency of Assembly of European Regions for its current mandate period 2017 to 2019. The region also holds the presidency and secretariat of the North Sea Commission during this mandate period through Kerstin Brunnström as president and Magnus Engelbrektsson as secretary general. International conferences and cultural events
A great deal of our international work is done by hosting visits and arranging international conferences and meetings, and also by attending conferences and meeting and visiting other countries.
